Wow — what an incredible response to the release of our first video and the latest update to our blog. I’ve already heard from several other owners who’ve experienced similar promises, delays, and disappointments.
One owner even shared a letter with me today that sheds more light on the situation. From what I understand, Cortes Campers continues to fall short when it comes to honoring warranties or reimbursing customers — at least not in any timely or consistent way.
As always, this is just my personal opinion and interpretation — but I’m curious, what do you think?
On April 9, 2024, our company wired $112,710 to Cortes Campers LLC for the purchase of three campers, including shipping to our campground in Nevada. The payment was made after Cortes representative Morgan Jarrell provided our lending institution with three Manufacturer’s Certificates of Origin (MCOs)—documents that appeared to confirm the campers were already completed. This came as a surprise, since salesperson Melanie Touchette had previously told us by phone that production would take approximately two weeks. Instead of issuing a $3,000 deposit per camper, the units were funded in full based on the documents provided. Below, I’ve included the bank wiring details, copies of the MCOs, and a close-up of the signature section from each certificate.
What is a Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin? A Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin (MCO), or Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin (MSO), is the document that proves where and by whom a vehicle or trailer was built. It’s created only after the unit is fully manufactured, assigned a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), and verified as complete. The MSO lists key details like the manufacturer’s name, VIN, model, and weight, and it’s signed by an authorized company representative. This document serves as the vehicle’s first proof of ownership and is later exchanged for a legal title when the buyer registers it.
I’ve been informed that Taylor Bennington may no longer be serving as Vice President of Cortes Campers but is serving in a “purely advisory capacity”. As my story continues to unfold, any references to Mr. Bennington will reflect the positions he held at the time of my direct interactions with him — specifically, Vice President and legal counsel for Cortes Campers.
If the story progresses beyond October 10, 2025, I want to be clear that I do not have confirmed information about his current role within the company. To ensure that my reporting remains accurate and factual, I will avoid assigning any title or position to him after that date unless publicly verified.
Below I have included some photos of email exchanges and communications between myself and Mr. Bennington for transparency. I have tried to leave enough border to provide context and make certain Mr. Bennington is fairly represented. I have also edited the photos to redact his phone number and it is important to note that Mr. Bennington has served professionally throughout our interactions.
We plan to update our opinion site this Saturday morning with our first video and written post. Once the YouTube video is live, we’ll share the link.
The video, titled “Where is My Cortes Camper?”, introduces our 18-month experience as a Cortes Campers customer. It will briefly reference one of the company’s owners, Paul Spivak, and the current Vice President, Taylor Bennington.
This is only a preview—future episodes will include additional details, recorded interactions, and supporting documentation.
If you are considering purchasing a Cortes Camper, we encourage you to follow along. The information we share may be useful in making an informed decision. #whereismycortescamper
At this time, I have chosen not to publish the actual email correspondence I’ve received from a representative of Cortes Campers LLC, who has made multiple attempts to intimidate, silence, or discourage me from sharing my experience publicly. I have also been informed that I may soon be contacted by their legal counsel. My purpose in maintaining this website and related content is not retaliation, but consumer awareness — to warn the public about what I believe to be unethical and potentially unlawful business practices. Sharing my experience is both a personal right and a civic responsibility, ensuring that others can make informed decisions before entering into business with this company. This platform documents my long and well-recorded journey as a paying customer of Cortes Campers LLC.
This website and its related content represent my personal opinions and experiences as a consumer. I am a resident of Oregon and owner of a Nevada-based business. Any attempt to restrict, suppress, or penalize my truthful and opinion-based commentary regarding matters of public interest — including consumer experiences, warranty practices, or business conduct — would lack proper personal jurisdiction in the State of Ohio or any other foreign venue. My statements are protected expressions under both the United States Constitution and state law, including the Nevada Anti-SLAPP statute (NRS 41.635 – 41.670), Oregon’s Anti-SLAPP statute (ORS 31.150 – 31.155), and Ohio’s Uniform Public Expression Protection Act (R.C. § 2747.01 et seq.). These laws prohibit meritless or coercive litigation intended to silence individuals speaking on issues of public concern and provide for recovery of attorney’s fees and damages against parties who file such actions.
